Orunmila is a master diviner, healer, and a major Orisha in the Yoruba Pantheon. He represents the ideal model of Yoruba intellectualism, critical analysis, understanding, and engagement. 

It has been said that Orunmila travels back and forth from heaven, beyond the stars, to earth counselling humans and other deities to help solve their issues.  His requirements for achieving this world are wisdom, the compelling desire for good character, and internal strength.
