Originally commissioned by BBC Arts for the docuseries Renaissance: Blood and Beauty, this artwork is a modern response to Renaissance depictions of the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child and St John the Baptist. Drawing from this visual lineage, the piece reimagines maternal devotion through an African spiritual lens.

At the centre of the composition is Yemoja, revered as the mother of all Orisas in the Yoruba pantheon, shown nursing one of the sacred Ibeji twins.
